WHY WE SHOULD BE CAREFUL WHEN IT COMES TO GETTING TREATMENT FROM A MID-LEVEL DENTAL PROVIDER

Midlevel dental providers perform preventive care and routine restorative duties, such as filling cavities, in a variety of settings. Often called dental therapists.

Midlevel Dental Providers are dentist assistants who work without a supervisory dentist and without the help of a team that will provide dental care, coordinate the diagnosis and treatment of disease, and dental services on their own and take their responsibilities. These people do not have advanced dental certificates and diplomas to showcase their work, so their treatment responsibilities and results do not match the treatment results of professional dentists. From time to time, they can endanger the lives and health of patients.

Their main duty is to implement certain procedures in line with the supervision and authorization of dentists when necessary. That’s why they can sometimes get the title of dental therapist or dental assistant.

Although the Mid-Level Dental Provider is seen as a threat to dentists to pursue their profession professionally in the United States, it seems that all countries with universities that provide dental assistant training will face this problem in the near future.

Although they are not responsible for the procedures that professional dentists can perform, those who treat dental patients in low-income regions are no other than mid-level dental providers. For dental problems, there is no one better than a professional dentist. However, in today’s world, where the cost of Dental Universities and dental procedures are considered to be almost a sign of wealth, people with low budgets are unaware that they endanger the prestige of the Dentistry profession while turning to methods suitable for their income.

In order to perform dentistry professionally, at least 8 years of training is required. (US Dental Schools). Of course, it is absolutely impossible for those who graduated from their schools with a much shorter education with the title of Midlevel Dental Provider to demonstrate professional procedures in this health field.

Suggestions have been made to countries and universities that provide dental practice training to limit this training area.

Since a topic such as acquiring a dentistry profession in a short way will not even be open to discussion, it is completely wrong to treat patients by showing professional attitudes by wearing only the necessary uniforms.

Many dentists view this expansion as a threat to their livelihood as well as credibility. As a result, there is a need to study the merit of mid- level practitioners in places where dentists do not traditionally practice.

The biggest reason people demand treatment from Midlevel Dental Providers is that it is very expensive to benefit from the treatment opportunities and professional care that professional dentists offer.

Proper dental care is extremely important, and should be available to all families, regardless of their income. Dentists are needed everywhere, but with any profession, individuals move to places where they are more likely to be successful in their trade. Student loans burden dentists that have just made their way through schooling, and they are unable to take on the task of working in an underpopulated market, or for charitable purposes.

Providing all citizens with the necessary access to all kinds of health care is one of the facts that should be included in the human rights classification. Access to necessary care must be taken seriously in all health areas. To provide access to the necessary treatment in the field of dental health; Instead of graduating more dentists, it is discussed that existing physicians should make their facilities suitable for people of all income levels. Unfortunately, it does not seem possible to implement such an application, because; The maintenance of the prestige of the dentistry profession and the high fees of dental schools push dentists to work for high wages.

Dental services are provided by a licensed dentist, or under the supervision of a licensed dentist, in an environment known as the dental home. It does not matter what the social status of the patient is, or how the dental practice is run.

Procedures that require surgery to be corrected and may be irreversible can only be performed by the licensed dentist. An increased number of auxiliaries in the dental home, where auxiliaries act within the uninterrupted or indirect supervision of a licensed dentist, increase the aptitude of the dental home.

Dental diseases are preventable and preventing them creates less of a cost for the patient. Resources should be established to educate patients about the importance of taking care of their teeth, and how to prevent diseases associated with not taking care of them properly.

Dentistry in the emergency field burdens the both the patient and the public with the costs associated with it. Collaboration between hospitals, medical doctors, and the dental home will help mitigate this, and will allow the patient to go from treatment to prevention. Dental referral and follow up is key to ensure prime dental health.

Any agreements arranged between dental and outside entities will not transfer local clinical decisions to anyone that is not a dentist in the state.

The needs of the patient are met through routine dental care provided by the dental home. This makes the patient know exactly where to go for dental care, without having to second guess their decisions. The dental home will also have all records needed to provide follow up care.

The roll out of Mid-Level Providers has accreditation standards that must be followed. The United States Department of Education has recognized the Commission of Dental Accreditation for this purpose.

Three years of training after high school would results in the capability to do the following:

-Identify oral and systematic issues that need further evaluation by dentists and give referrals.

-Radiographic imaging.

-Dispense and administer nonnarcotic medications that have been prescribed by a licensed healthcare provider.

-Apply numbing medications and resins.

-Change periodontal dressings.

-Pull erupted primary teeth.

-Prep and place direct restorations in primary or permanent teeth.

-Pulp cap permanent teeth.

-Minor adjustments and repairs on false teeth.

-Removal of space maintainers.

-Chart the oral cavity.

-Oral health education and disease prevention techniques that include nutrition and dietary aspects.

-Dental prophylaxis.

-Apply topical preventative and prophylactic agents.

-Make athletic mouth guards.

-Administer local anesthetic.

-Emergency palliative treatment for dental pain, as allowed by the terms herein.

-Creation and placement f single tooth temporary crowns.

-Prep and place performed crowns on primary teeth.

-Suture removal.

In the light of all this information, a single suggestion stands out. He also; Not only in terms of dental health, but also all health needs are requested from professionals who have received the necessary training in the field.

Inexpensive treatment does not always give the most desired result. As a result of inexpensive treatment demand, when the body reacts incorrectly and undesirably, it can even cause irreversible damage due to the insufficient knowledge of the person performing the procedure.
